View Full Version : Search for Developers

There used to be a way to search for developers on the DataAccess
website. I can't find it on the new website. Anyone know if it is
still available?
Thanks

Greg, that hasn't been maintained for a long time now. I called all the
listing of developers for Michigan and none of them exist or are doing VDF
work. I think that all of them only did DF work and never VDF. I had asked
almost everyone at DAC to try and get my name on the list, but nothing ever
happened.
The only way to keep a list up-to-date is to have it be fee based.

Thanks David. Any ideas on how to find VDF developers in my area? How
did you do it?

Sure.
Maybe even put a post on Monster.com and make sure it is searchable by
Google and Yahoo... DAC can provide a link to it from their website.
You could charge $1.00 a year for a simple listing.

I can see how it could be handy. If someone has a DF/VDF app and needs
support or updating, they would probably start at the Dataflex website.
At least I probably would.
An out of work developer who wants to see who in his area may be a
potential employer.
I could probably think of a couple more.

You can always post a message that asks for VDF developers in a given area.
Most of the ones you would actually want to deal with probably frequent the
groups...

Which group would be acceptable to post such a question?
ie: Are there any VDF developers in the ??? area?

I asked the marketing people at DAW for a list of VDF developers in my
area (Minnesota) due to my client's concern for what would happen if I
got hit by a truck. Unfortunately, in my case they were unable to find
any active VDF developers in Minnesota. (The client insists on a local
presence.) The client has therefore decided to have their custom
application re-written in another language (probably .NET). The good
news (??) is that they want me to learn .NET and do the programming
since I know their system best. (I haven't decided yet if that's good
news or not. I'd prefer staying in the DataFlex - and VDF - world.)

Or we could ask Wil to start a new group in his news server... I think most
of us read his stuff as well ;)
(if not, you should!)

The point is to get more visibility. No need for anything new if we expect
everyone to find us here in the NG. What I am hoping for is something that
can be found from a google search, or a link from the DAW website because
not everyone comes here. We just need a yellow pages listing.
