Greetings,
I just am trying to move a workspace from 9.0 to 10.1 - I used the
import workspace tool in VDF 10.1 and everything looks good. But now when I
compile a program, I get the above error. It is referring to CodeMast. I
have CodeType and CodeMast as file numbers 207 and 208 in VDF 9.0. and these
files show up fine in DBBuilder and DbExplore. What have I done wrong and
how should I fix it? Should I now change my file numbers? I think I have
them as 207/8 in all my old versions.

Regards,

Tod Brannen

The Help says:

"These old workspaces configurations will work as they did. Although you do
not need to register these tables in your filelist you are encouraged to do
so."

Is this error the 'encouragment' the Help is talking about?

Tod:
We also had our codemast/codetype at 207 & 208. For 10.1 we moved them
to CODETYPE to 253 & CODEMAST to 254. This is where DAW put them in
10.1. After we moved them (and created new FD files), I recompiled my
DOS versions and VDF versions and all worked fine.

Mark,
How did you move them? Export to text and import? If so, how? Hand key
them? (I have too many to do that.) Yours is an inhouse system. I have many
systems that need to upgrade to VDF 10. I have added Codemast to all of them
as 207/208 in the filelist. If I just try to add file 253 to the file list
as CodeType I get warning that says the name already exists. If I overwrite
it, all data is lost.

Thanks,

Tod:
In the dbBuilder, "Filelist" - "Move" will move an entry in the filelist
from one number to another. If I recall though you still need to
rebuild the FD file.

Mark,
That worked. I never saw that menu item before. You live and learn.

I just had this same problem converting a vdf7 app. I just recreated the
filelist entries as 253 and 254. If you look at the samples and the filelist
entries they are different numbers 207/208 and in fact if you look at the
relationship from one file to the other it is incorrect. DAW needs to look
into that. I remember reading some 'Whats new' stuff about CodeFile master
implementation. It is a good thange.

Peer,
After getting my app to compile without errors, I began testing and
found that the relate in the CodeMast was gone and the Modify codes view did
not work anymore. Then I thought of your post and knew what to do.
