No registry entries at all are needed to run.
In Ben's reply, he did not mention the dfdaemon.exe file as one of the
files that is required to run - and it is. I would include the
dferr003.* (also in my list) as part of what should be deployed. It
won't fail without the error files, but you won't get potentially useful
error information.
What is the exact error you are getting?

put stuff into registry when I ran the full install on my dev
