When I go to:

http://servername/Electos from any machine BUT the electos server I get
the above error. When I do the same thing from the electos server, it
works just fine.

Any ideas? Running the latest RC.

Hi Oliver,

What I have found is that in order to access from another machine you will
have to replace "localhost" with the machine name (or IP if you desire) as
the URL for the studio and/or the website.

I'm not really clear whether that's the best/only solution, but I have found
that it works for me :-)

Regards,
Joe

I forgot to mention that you would do this using "site manager".

See attached -- just to make sure I've communicated clearly --
If your URL's in Sitemanager do not use "localhost" then unfortunately I
don't have the answer.

Joe

Oliver-

I can *almost* reproduce your problem if I remove the slash at the end of
"http://servername/Electos" in SiteManager and [Apply].
When I enter http://servername/Electos in the browser, I get the same "The
site you are trying ...." message.
I say *almost* because I get the same message on a browser running on the
server, too.

If I put the slash back in, all is happy - happy...

Correct, in 3.0.14 there is a bug where it will add a "\" instead of a "/"
if there's none at the end. The workaround for this bug is making sure it is
added, and it should be fixed properly in the upcoming 3.0.15 release.

My first thought was the same as Joe's but I think it should not work on the
server either then.
Unless you use a differnt url to approach the studio when you try from the
server then when you try from another computer?
I've been trying to reproduce it, but I can't seem to reproduce it in a way
that it does work from the server itself but doesn't from another computer
in the network.

What are you're settings for the website if you look at them in the
sitemanager by selecting the website and clicking the edit button? The
settings like

Name:
Studio access URL
Studio URL
Website root path
etc

My own settings that work across network are:

Name: MyWebsite
Studio access URL: http://ev-laptop/Electos/
Website URL: /MyWebsite/
all other settings left blank

Probably only the first three of these are interesting.

Edwin
