View Full Version : Looking for Recommendation

I have just completed bring up a customer onto VDF 12.0 exclusively --
including web apps.

I want to now remove the VDF previous version which are no longer required.
(Clean up the system :>)

However, Electos is running both Electos 2.0 and 3.0, although there are no
actively used Electos sites. Now, as I understand it, Electos 2.0 was
installed with 11.x -- and I can't uninstall Electos 2.0 without a complete
Electos uninstall. Is it possible to uninstall my 11.x without corrupting
Electos?

What is the recommended procedure?

This client is very "sticky" regarding keeping their systems clean of
anything that is not being used. (...and I certainly can't blame them :>)

Thanks in advance,
Joe

If you aren't using either Electos 2 or VDF11, wouldn't the "best" way to
*really* make sure the system is clean be to:

- Backup everything
- Copy all the files that really are used to another location (AppSrc,
AppHTML, DDSrc, Data, ASP, etc.)
- Uninstall VDF12 & Electos 3
- Uninstall VDF11 & Electos 2
- Remove all the Web Sites
- Check disk for non-removed files & get rid of 'em all
- Reboot machine & Defrag
- Install VDF12 & Electos 3
- Copy the files back
- Test
- Get the files you didn't copy to the "really used group" from the complete
backup
- Test
- Drink beer
- Get the rest of the files you missed
- Test
- Drink beer
.... You get the idea<g>
