Hi Mike,

If you install only what we send you it will all just work. The hotfixes
on the CD we send out have the appropriate revisions of the various
components. If you install newer hotfixes, or the current service pack
from the Business Objects website it won't work because they broke it
(again). Here's the sequence of events...

1. When they released XI, it had a bug that manifested itself with
related records not showing in reports.
2. They fixed this in the hotfixes and gave us permission to publish
those on our CDs.
3. For a while, even though there were newer hotfixes on their website,
everything was fine, until right around the time they came out with SP1
(it was actually just before SP1). In those halcyon days, one could
install either the hotfixes on our CD or the latest from their website
and all would be well. We even had the CK check for the minimum rev
(that you would have by installing the hotfixes from our CD) so folks
would know they needed a newer version.
4. Just prior to SP1, they introduced a new bug that, though not the
exact same bug, manifested itself in the same way as the first bug
(isn't that nice). We have what appears to be a fix in hand for this new
bug, but have not finished testing it yet (and are taking great care).
BTW: This particular bug impacted the Pervasive Btrieve driver also.

In any case, we'll hopefully have this all sorted out very soon (and in
such a way where it won't be so darn confusing). In the meantime, if you
rollback any newer hotfixes and/or service packs and only install what
we provided on our CD, you'll be fine.

Best regards,

-SWM-

Yesterday I install CRW XI on my laptop for testing - I only installed
what was on the developer CD - two patches fro Business objects. Laptop
isn't connected to the Internet so it wouldn't of downloaded any patches.

I pulled up a report created in CRW 8 and saved the RPT in the XI
format. Verified the DB's. These are standard DAT files.

This is a pretty basic header line item report with the line item
relating to an inventory file. First problem was that only the first
line of the line items finds it's parent inventory item. So I went in
and rebuilt the link from the child to the parent - then only the first
line of the line items showed up. Again, I only installed what was on
the CD. Does this sound like the same problem the others were having?
