Greetings,
I have noticed on the client's XI that if I want to do a report on VDF
data, and browse to the data folder, it does not show any .DAT files. If I
change the selection to All Files, and select the DAT file, everything is
fine. Howerver, it would be much better if it would show the .DAT file by
default. Can I set this up? I tried on one dialog that says Files like this:
I put in *.Dat. It didn't work.

Thanks,

Tod Brannen

Tod,

I have not find the proper way yet. But the "dirty" way to do this is via
the registry directly. Place the following in a REG file (or find the right
spot with regedit) and change the value. Have CRW closed before changing!

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Suite 11.0\Crystal
Reports\DatabaseOptions]
"DatabaseSelector"="*.dat;*.mdb;*.xls;*.xlw;*.xml;*.xsd;*.ttx;*.db;*.d bf;*.ddf;*.qry;*.udl;*.int"

Tod.

In Crystal, file, options, data source Defaults, database file filter, try
to add ;*.dat and see what happens. I can't garantee it works but that is
the way you are supposed to do it, same for the default directory.

Diego

Diego,
I tried that first. I remembered it from CR 8.5. But it does nothing in
CR XI, so far. Of course the screen looks a little different, and I may be
doing something wrong.

Thanks,

Thanks, Vincent - that works (if you type it in correctly<g>)
