After having crystal 8.5 running nomal for several months now I can't
refresh the reports or create a new report. The connection to the database
is lost. I have an error message the Library p2bdfapi.dll cannot be found.
please check your installation.

I have tried to restore crystal, reinstall the CK driver build 35 and 38,
copy dll files from vdf7\bin for several days and nothing worked.

Did you search you system to see where this file is located?

CR8.5 is prior to the versions that Business Objects (then Seagate) made
their product able to run multiple versions. So they made it difficult to
have multiple versions of CR on one computer.

That being said, I think the p2bdfapi is a dataaccess provided connectivity
file. So check where it is located. I think I had both the 35 and 38
versions on my computer at the same time without any problems. In my
experience, I had to have the Crystal DLL's in the Bin folder for vdf in
order to run them.

I created a c:\VDF7\Bin and I moved all the VDF runtime files and the
Crystal runtime files into this one folder. I added this folder to the
compiler directories so I know CR would find it. My CR files were installed
at the location C:\Windows\Crystal (if I remember right).

One more thing to mention is the install. You must install CR before
installing the ConnKit. You should not uninstall CR BEFORE uninstalling
ConnKit or it won't remove properly (been there, done that). I had to
re-install CR then reinstall the ConnKit, uninstall ConnKit, and finally
uninstall CR.

Hopefully something I have said will help you.

David.

Thank you for your reply. I have tried all that. I removed any version of
p2bdfapi.dll and leave the only one in the Program files/vdf7/bin directory
and no sucess. I can't believe crystal is difficult to trace. In the past I
have gone throguh all crystal problems and you never have any clue how it
gets fixed and worst, when it got damaged.

There is something else. I am surprissed that in all archive and crystal
posted messages no one refers to the p2bdfapi problem I am getting. I also
tryed to install it in a different computer and I have the same error.

Thanks,

Diego Bonilla
