Wrong max. number of characters for field names in documentation

The documentation still has the 15 character limit in the DF_FIELD_NAME page.

Quote:

In the Embedded Database, column names can be any combination of characters, up to 15 characters long, that starts with a letter and contains no punctuation other than underscore (_).

That should be 32.

Studio codesense help

When I use the Open command the studio can help me so far

Dang ! (that's Texan for holy cow!) -- beta 6 speed is impressive ! I think it is noticably faster than previous betas. But maybe that's just me?

One little suggestion is to the change the default tpl's for the web objects to add a blank line that would be convienent to drag & drop into.

Header Color

A customer withtwo identical programs but with different data has requested that I change theheader color, the part with "jobcost network", to a different coloron one of the programs headers. Is this embedded in the runtime? Lacking an answer to this question, I guess I'll resort to changing the programbackground color as a last resort.

Change sorting and load list at psSeedvalue of cDbCJGridPromptList

Hi,

I like to call a dbModalPanel (cDbCJGridPromptList) from a dbform.
There is no relation from the database field.
I like open the selectionlist, the ordering should be ordering =2 and the value of the column oST_TEXT_NUMM should have the value from the ZFIRM.ZWERT3.
My result:
Ordering =1
and the value inside oST_TEXT_NUMM isn�t the ZFIRM.ZWERT3 ???
Must I do something inside the dbModalPanel?

How do I tell if a table is open or not?

Is there some easy way to tell what tables are open while debugging? or is that what "in-active" and "active" in the tables list stand for?

Beta6 WebCombo behavior changed

In a cWebCombo I had working fine under all previous releases, it has now changed after installing Beta6.

The list is filled via Procedure OnFill, and examination of the data via the debugger show the elements have all been set up correctly. But when the comboform displays, the first "row" of the combodata used to display in the form. Now it is blank. When I drop down the list, all rows are present and correct.

I read the help, the newsgroup and KBase article 2461,
changed the values for 64Bit, but the same Error

Can't get RedirectConnection to work

Hi all,

I am doing a proof of concept for our executives to see if the DAW CK would fit the requirements.
We are doing VDF 17.1 Web App, and we are using MS SQL Server as the backend.

On the SQL Server, we have 2 identical databases, the are called "Order1" and "Order2" (I am using the Order Entry Example, not the Web Order since it's a proof of concept)
I want to be able to switch connection on the fly. According to the documentation, it seems that RedirectConnection would do the trick.

I copied the connection string from my INT file, and it looked like this

cWebModalDialog and OnCloseModalDialog

OnCloseModalDialog being sent back to the calling object before a Save Confirmation and the save actually happens in a popup modal dialog? So if the user saves some data in the popup - how would the view be informed and refreshed with the changed data ?

Just had this happen in 17.1 Beta5.

Here's a screenshot (008) - (somehow the copy error to clipboard got cleared or something)..

BTW - makes closing the studio very difficult as each mouse movement throws the error.

The 2nd screenshot (009) shows there should be 4 procedures in cWebForm1. But when the error occurs you can see that (?) in the nodes in screenshot008.

Date Lookup - cWebDatePicker issues

Hi All,

I'm having some issues getting a user-friendly popup working on a date field.

What I would like is to have a calendar lookup on a date field.

There are 2 options to do this 'out of the box'.

I can either use a cWebDatePicker control, which embeds a datepicker into the web page, or I can use a cWebDateForm, which is a
subclass of the cWebForm with a datepicker built in as a prompt object.

There are a couple of issues with the popup on the cWebDateForm.

The first is that the datepicker pops up top-aligned with the control, and if the control is near the bottom of the container control, only the top of the datepicker is visible, until you scroll down to view it, and if the container is shorter than the datepicker, then you will never be able to see the whole of the date picker at any time.

The second is that there is no way to cancel the popup without selecting a date, although I have found that it cancels the popup if I re-click on the prompt button on the invoking control - which means that the prompt object is not truly modal!

There are different issues when using the cWebDatePicker itself as the control.

The first is the space that it takes up, although this is a matter of choice and there may be times when the control is more intuitive to use this way.

A more major issue is that when you select a month or year from the dropdowns, or use the previous/next buttons to change the displayed month, although this displays the month selected, when you click on a day in the body of the calendar, it usually just re-displays the original month with the original date selected, i.e. it doesn't select the date clicked on and the onDateClicked event doesn't fire, although strangely sometimes it does work.

By creating a CalendarPopup modal dialog, and creating a sub-class of the cWebForm to use this popup as a prompt object, I have created a
control that will include a datepicker as a prompt object.

This gets around the display problem if using a cWebDateForm in a small container as it is a modal dialog so sits 'above' the control and its container.

It also allows me to have a button to Cancel the popup, but it still has the issue regarding selecting dates in other months as it uses the cWebDatePicker so doesn't reliably allow a single click on a date to return the date.

Another issue with this solution is that the modal dialog pops up centred on screen. I can locate the modal dialog by setting piTop & piLeft, but I can't find out what these should be set to as I can't get the location from the invoking control. I suspect that this is because the control doesn't 'know' where it is, having been located according to 'flow'. It would be nice to have this located near the control that popped it up, but I can probably live with it centred on screen.

Can anyone shed any light on why the cWebDatePicker is unreliable when trying to select dates in different months, or if there is any way I can get the location of the invoking control for a popup, or is there some other way that I can get a user-friendly date lookup?

Hi all,

Our current app is on VDF 16.1. I tried compiling our app in VDF 17.1 Beta 6, and I got a compiler error
ERROR: 4306 Forward reference not resolved SET_COMOFFICE2007IMAGES ON LINE: 516 (156858) OF FILE: .\MYCOMMANDBARSYSTEM.PKG

In VDF 16.1, the cCJCommandBars.pkg has that "Procedure Set"
In VDF 17.1, the cCJCommandBars.pkg doesn't have that "Procedure Set"

I know that VDF 17.1 uses different version of the CodeJock controls. Does anyone have a workaround for this problem?

ShellExecute and wait for completion

Hi,

Is there a similar alternative of ShellExecute which waits for its completion?

We need to print a bunch of files. This can be Word documents, PDF files and even other files. This works best with ShellExcute "PRINT". Windows will take care of it all.
However, when ShellExecute is called, it immediately continues with the next file while Windows is still printing. I need our program to wait before it prints the next document.

Any suggestions?
