Hi Everyone,

A webapp that has previously been running fine, all of a sudden today
gives the following error:

Error during Web Application Server session initialization, please try
again later. Fatal error occurred during child process initialization:
Ini file error Cannot write to the INI file VDF Error#: 4409 in line:
4794. Please check the Windows event log for further information about
the problem.

The Event Log shows exactly the same error.

According to the customer, nothing has changed on their server. I've
checked Permissions on both the Workspace and Visual Dataflex
directorys, and the Web App Service has full control over both of those
areas. Nor are any of the files in those paths set as read only.

I've tried restarting and recreating the web application, both to no
avail. Anyone have any ideas as to the cause of this, because I'm
stumped. Even some kind of clue as to what INI file it can't write too
would be useful.

Thanks,
Matt

Just as a side note to that, there are also other VDF .exe files inside
the same program directory, all of which run without a problem.

A quick search in WASP points to the <workspace>.ws file, check the
permissions for it.

Having been struck by similar errors hundreds of times in different
applications (non-vdf), I make sure to always say _which_ file my
application is having a problem with. "Something is wrong with some file
somewhere" isn't really a helpful error message. =)

You mean like VB's really useful "Error loading dll" message? It only loads
several hundred after all....<g>

I also checked WASP yesterday, and one of the first things I did was
check the .ws file. The user has full control over this .ws file.

Hi

We have got the same problem today.

One of our "vdf11" .exe files replies this error. Others don't.

All threads on this forum tells me to check the rw for the ini files. Problem is that the users dont have had access to these files for the last 4 years, and now suddenly they get this message
